ALL ABOARD! VICTORIA CRUISE TOURISM JOB FAIR WITH EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES IN TOW Victoria, B.C. – On Saturday March 19, the Victoria Cruise Industry Alliance (VCIA) will host a Cruise Tourism Industry Job Fair at Ogden Point Pier B, 185 Dallas Road from 10am-2pm. The job fair will showcase opportunities from across Greater Victoria and offer attendees the chance to learn more about an exciting career in tourism. “Victoria is home to a vibrant tourism and hospitality industry sector,” said Anna Poustie, VCIA Chair. “The cruise industry is poised for a successful return to Victoria and we’re ready to welcome visitors back to our shores. We’re encouraging all those that are interested in this exciting sector to attend our job fair to meet with potential employers.” Well-known and established businesses such as Butchart Gardens, the Greater Victoria Harbour Authority, Orca Spirit, and Victoria Pedicabs will be recruiting. Employers are hiring various positions, ranging from front-line staff, skilled tradespeople to administrative-related roles. Everyone from youth and post-secondary grads transitioning into careers to those who are looking to stay active in their retired years are encouraged to attend. “It’s a great time to explore new employment opportunities in cruise tourism. Our industry continues to grow, and we are always looking for new and talented people,” said Ms. Poustie. “Cruise tourism and those who work in the sector are playing an important role in our local economy. We’re contributing to the high quality of life that Victoria residents enjoy and are attracting visitors to British Columbia. Victoria Cruise Industry Alliance is happy to support local businesses by providing a forum to connect with job seekers.” This year, over 300 ship arrivals and 760,000 anticipated cruise passengers are expected to arrive in Victoria through Ogden Point. An increase in passengers means more jobs and a boost to Victoria’s economy. From guests and crew visiting local shops, participating in tours, to dining at local restaurants, the $130M that is brought to British Columbia through the cruise industry will support local wages and encourage investment in Victoria. Job seekers are encouraged to bring a resume to Ogden Point, Pier B.
